A Message From Our President

The word “fraternity" is derived from the Latin root “frater” which means brother; and through the strong bond between brothers, Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity was born over 100 years ago. Since its inception, Phi Kappa Theta has continued to grow as more and more collegiate men have come to realize the value of being a part of a brotherhood founded on faith and excellence.

Our mission is to actively develop men to be effective leaders who passionately serve society, fraternity, and God. At the heart of our mission is our identity, which is embodied in our five pillars: leadership, spiritual, fraternal, social, and intellectual development. In Matthew 4:19, Jesus calls Simon Peter and Andrew, saying, “follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” By striving for excellence in each of the pillars, we can fulfill our mission, become better disciples of Christ, and become fishers of men here at UW-Madison and beyond.

Why join Phi Kappa Theta? PKT stands as the premier men’s developmental organization on campus. Our brothers are leaders in the community and models of Christian living. Phi kaps branch out in all aspects of student life, from academics to athletics. We give back through philanthropy events and service efforts, we are active in our faith, and we support each other in both success and struggle. I can assure you that you will not find a better group of gentlemen anywhere else on campus.

As a brother, you will have a chance to be a part of something greater while enriching your college experience through the people you meet and the life skills you obtain. If you would like to join the brotherhood, be a part of our mission, or learn more about our history, you can reach out to me at president.madisonpkt@gmail.com.

In the bonds,

Nick Berg

What We Value

Our five pillars represent our highest endeavors:

Spiritual Pillar: The Chapter confesses belief in the personal creator, before whom all men stand equal, and accepts without dissent the faith and morals of the Roman Catholic Church.

Fraternal Pillar: In imitation of the Apostles, brotherhood is the Chapter’s choice instrument for conforming men to Christ. “As iron sharpens iron, so does one man sharpen another.”

Social Pillar: The Chapter acknowledges as a primary obligation the need to serve “the least among us” and maintain social relationships based in love and truth.

Leadership Pillar: The Chapter forms men in whom leadership is essential to their identity, which is made evident in their labor, their families, and their faith communities.

Intellectual Pillar: Scripture tells us that “the man who does not work shall not eat.” The Chapter acknowledges the necessity and good of labor and asserts scholastic excellence in its brothers.
