A Message From Our President

On April 29, 1889, a group of men came together to accomplish a remarkable achievement. For the first and only time in the history of the United States, two collegiate fraternities were merged, creating Phi Kappa Theta. PKT was founded, over 100 years ago, by these men, and so began the long standing tradition of excellence and development that has been Phi Kappa Theta.

As a fraternity, our mission is to both develop men & be a light to Greek life here on campus. Both Greek life & Catholic student life at UW-Madison are full of great opportunity and rich tradition. PKT strives for excellence in both spheres, & seeks to blend these two social climates into a place where both can be appreciated & utilized to their fullest extent. A place where one can both grasp a college experience & remain true to their Christian values.

Today, PKT stands as the premier Christian developmental organization on campus. Through the Pillars of Leadership, Fraternal, Social, and Intellectual Development, PKT uniquely places men to succeed in today’s college climate. On campus, Phi Kaps are clearly seen as leaders of clubs, of volunteer efforts, church events & ministry, and other student organizations. Brothers are clearly successful and influential leaders on campus. It is not secret to me why I see so much success from these men. PKT provides a powerful & genuine bond of friendship that I have not seen anywhere else on campus. Phi Kaps have access to a great array of resources and people who will support them while also having fun with them- the fraternity is clearly a climate that grows both good times & an opportunity-filled future.

This semester, our Leadership has embraced “Pilgrims of Hope” as a spiritual motto, in keeping with the current Jubilee year. We hope you share our vision of a hopeful future as we move forward on campus with the goal of both developing and broadly sharing our Christian mission. If you see yourself wanting to help or be apart of this mission on campus, you can reach out to me at president.madisonpkt@gmail.com.

In the bonds,

Brady Miller

What We Value

Our five pillars represent our highest endeavors:

Spiritual Pillar: The Chapter confesses belief in the personal creator, before whom all men stand equal, and accepts without dissent the faith and morals of the Roman Catholic Church.

Fraternal Pillar: In imitation of the Apostles, brotherhood is the Chapter’s choice instrument for conforming men to Christ. “As iron sharpens iron, so does one man sharpen another.”

Social Pillar: The Chapter acknowledges as a primary obligation the need to serve “the least among us” and maintain social relationships based in love and truth.

Leadership Pillar: The Chapter forms men in whom leadership is essential to their identity, which is made evident in their labor, their families, and their faith communities.

Intellectual Pillar: Scripture tells us that “the man who does not work shall not eat.” The Chapter acknowledges the necessity and good of labor and asserts scholastic excellence in its brothers.
